Kit Grill - January 2025
Kit Grill is an artist and musician based in England. Working across sound and image, his practice often moves between recording, photography, and music-making. He stayed at House of Hulda in January 2025.
Kit’s work tends to be observational, often rooted in place and atmosphere, but without forcing a fixed outcome. His approach allows material to build over time rather than resolving immediately into finished work.
During his stay, that approach became more pronounced. Rather than focusing on producing a defined project, he spent most of his time walking and photographing. “Every day was spent exploring and taking photos — this became the work.” The residency shifted his focus away from output and toward attention.
He began working on music while at Hulda, but chose not to develop it further at the time. “I think I need to process and reflect on the trip fully before I make something in response.” Instead of finishing something on-site, he treated the experience as material to return to later.
“I enjoyed being on my own for the stay because I could soak everything up without any distractions.”
Since leaving Andøya, Kit has been working on an album informed by the residency, planned for release in early 2026. The project continues his tendency to let work develop at a distance rather than in the moment.
