CALL FOR APPLICATIONS : Residences Fall / Winter 26
House of Hulda has partnered with Rise Art to launch a new programme of four fully-funded artist residencies in Andøya, Norway.
At a moment when arts funding continues to contract globally, limiting opportunities for sustained creative development, this collaboration is grounded in a shared commitment to supporting artists at pivotal stages in their careers.
Central to the programme is the belief that time, space and context are essential to artistic development, reflecting a mutual investment in considered, meaningful forms of support that extend beyond short-term visibility.
Open to both emerging and established practitioners, the residencies foreground diverse voices and practices that warrant wider attention. Set against the remote landscape of Andøya, participating artists will have the opportunity to step away from their regular working environments to engage deeply with a setting defined by clarity and isolation.
Following the residency, the four selected artists might get the opportunity to present works developed from their time in Norway in a group exhibition staged across London and Andøya, accompanied by a series of online activations.

House of Hulda is a registered non-profit organisation aiming to provide artists with much needed space and time to develop their practice and find inspiration. All proceeds go towards upkeep, development and growth of the home-and-studio space they occupy in the small village of Stave, Andøya.
Rise Art shines a light on today's most dynamic and culturally significant artists, collaborating directly with a curated roster of emerging, mid-career, and established creatives worldwide.

Setting
Set in the Arctic landscape, the residency offers a rare opportunity to experience the shifting seasons and their distinct atmospheres. Further details on what to expect throughout the year can be explored here.
Location
The house comprises a main floor with a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, and open-plan living and dining area. On the ground floor, there is an additional guest bedroom alongside a dedicated workshop space. Residents have full access to the entire property. While the residency encourages a focused, solitary engagement with the environment, artists are welcome to host a partner or guest for part of their stay if preferred.
Cost
There is no cost to participate. Residents are asked to leave one artwork, contributing to a growing permanent collection - this work, alongside further pieces developed post-residency, will be included in the proceeding exhibition. A combined stipend will be provided by Rise Art and House of Hulda, kindly supported by Nordland Fylkeskommune, to cover the cost of flights, materials, and food supplies.
